- Issue #2 was originally going to be the first issue in the series.
- Each issue has three covers drawn by various artists to choose from: cover A, cover B, and cover C.
- A sneak peek was featured in Adventure Time's Spoooktacular #1 as a teaser to the TV series, as well as being featured in Kaboom! Summer Blast for one of its annual Free Comic Book Days.
- The main comic in each issue is written by Jeremy Sorese and illustrated by Coleman Engle, but the overall comic is published by Kaboom! Studios.
- It features new plots and characters that may or may not appear in the actual cartoon series.
- The comics are "level 2 canon", which means that they are canonical as long as they aren't contradicted by the series.
- In Issue #3, Steven says that he's not the musical one, his father is; Greg follows by saying that it's time to begin Steven's first lesson. This is contradicted by the "We are the Crystal Gems" short, where a younger Steven has already learned how to play basic ukelele.
