Trivia

  • StevenBomb 1 marked the beginning of the new airing time for Steven Universe at 10:00 p.m. UTC.
  • Episodes within the airing cycle were moved around to make the StevenBomb 1 plot line flow better. These episodes include stand-alone episodes from season 1 ("Open Book", "Story for Steven" and "Shirt Club") and "Full Disclosure", a season 2 episode.
    • The schedule adjustments also resulted in the 2015 April Fools' Day episode "Say Uncle" airing during Season 2 instead of Season 1.
    • The episode airing order did not need to be adjusted for later StevenBombs.[7]
  • The name was derived from the opening scene in "Garnet's Universe", where Steven "Steven-bombs" Garnet from the rafters as she returns from a mission.[8]
  • StevenBomb 2 marked the beginning of a new airing time of Steven Universe at 11:00 p.m. UTC.
  • Cartoon Network confirmed the second StevenBomb beforehand via phone call.
  • Like the first StevenBomb, the first episode of StevenBomb 2 aired with an episode involving Pearl's and Rose Quartz's relationship.
    • The first episode of StevenBomb 3, however, was somewhat involved with Garnet and Pearl's relationship.
    • The first episode of StevenBomb 4 involved Ruby and Sapphire's relationship.
    • The first episode of StevenBomb 5 dealt with the relationship between Blue Diamond, Yellow Diamond, and Pink Diamond.
    • The first episode of StevenBomb 6 revolved around Steven's relationship with Rose.
  • StevenBomb 3 was referred to as "#weekofsardonyx" on the staff's Tumblr.
    • The clip from "Cry for Help" introducing Pearl and Garnet's fusion was shown at SDCC 2015.
  • Promotional artwork for the first StevenBomb shows a panicked Steven running with a lit bomb in his hands. This is a reference to the film adaptation of the 1960s Batman series starring Adam West, in which Batman runs through a seaside town trying to get rid of a bomb.
  • The final episode of the second and third StevenBomb ("Chille Tid" and "Friend Ship") were both represented by a question mark in the promo art.
  • StevenBombs tend to act as a countdown to an apocalyptic scenario that is to occur in the future.
  • So far, almost all StevenBombs except the fifth have introduced a new fusion.
    • StevenBomb 1 introduced Malachite, StevenBomb 2 introduced Rainbow Quartz, StevenBomb 3 introduced Sardonyx, StevenBomb 4 introduced the Ruby triple fusion, and StevenBomb 6 introduced Topaz.
      • StevenBomb 1 reveals Garnet's status as a fusion, StevenBomb 2 introduces the Cluster Gems, StevenBomb 3 silhouettes an Unknown Fusion Gem, StevenBomb 4 reveals the result of a fusion of gems of the same type, and StevenBomb 6 reveals the concept of permanent Homeworld Gem fusions.
    • And, in each Bomb except the fifth, at least one fusion reappears.
      • Opal in StevenBombs 1 and 4, Stevonnie and Malachite in StevenBomb 2, Sugilite in StevenBomb 3, and Alexandrite in StevenBomb 6.
        • Garnet also refuses in StevenBomb 1, 3, 4, and 5. In addition, the 4th shows the first time Ruby and Sapphire ever fused.
  • So far every StevenBomb has a theme that stretches through most of the episodes that air in it.
    • StevenBomb 1's theme is the Gem Homeworld invasion by Peridot.
    • StevenBomb 2's theme revolves around the word "do" or "doing", as evidenced by:
      • The song "Do It For Her" and the quote "Why won't you just let me do this for you, Rose?!", by Pearl, in "Sworn to the Sword".
      • The quote "What have I done?! What had I done? I done bad" in "Rising Tides, Crashing Skies".
      • The song "What Can I Do" in "We Need to Talk".
      • The quote "Just let me do this for you!", by Lapis Lazuli, in "Chille Tid".
        • Interestingly enough, the first episode of StevenBomb 3, "Cry For Help" – that is, the episode immediately following StevenBomb 2 – also features a song prominently including the word "do". In the lyrics of "Tower of Mistakes", the phrase "Is there something I can do?" is repeated several times.
    • StevenBomb 3's theme was Sardonyx and the conflict revolving her, Garnet and Pearl.
      • In a thread raising concerns about leaked content, writer Matt Burnett foreshadowed this conflict by jokingly describing StevenBomb 3 as revolving around "Pearl hitting rock bottom".[9]
    • StevenBomb 4's theme is Steven's birthday, as well as Peridot's redemption.
    • StevenBomb 5's theme is leaving Earth to save Greg in outer space, as well as the effect Rose Quartz shattering Pink Diamond has had on the Homeworld Gems.
    • StevenBomb 6's theme is the abduction of Steven's friends and the repercussions resulting from Rose's, as well as Steven's, actions.
  • Someone sings in every StevenBomb. In addition, at least one Gem sings in each StevenBomb.
  • StevenBomb 1 is so far the only StevenBomb to have more than 5 episodes.
  • It is revealed in StevenBomb 4 that Steven is 14 years old, and that Connie's age is 12 ¾.
  • Each StevenBomb except the sixth has Garnet without her visor in at least one episode.
    • StevenBomb 1: In "The Return", Garnet is shown without her visor when hit by the Gem Destabilizer, and "Jail Break" shows Garnet without her visor shortly after her formation.
    • StevenBomb 2: The hand cluster takes off Garnet's visor in "Keeping It Together". When Garnet says "That's fusion." in "We Need to Talk", her red eye winks at Greg.
    • StevenBomb 3: Garnet takes off her visor while she says "I can be brash, you can be reckless. And we can both get carried away." in "Cry for Help".
    • StevenBomb 4: In "The Answer", Garnet does not wear her visor once. In "Steven's Birthday", Garnet removes her shades in an unsuccessful attempt to get baby Steven to stop crying.
    • StevenBomb 5: In "That Will Be All", Garnet is not wearing her visor when Ruby and Sapphire fuse to stop Holly Blue Agate's attack (she summons it again, saying "We'll handle this noise").
  • There are some characters who appear or are mentioned in every Bomb. Other than Steven, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl, these include Ruby, Sapphire, Peridot, Rose Quartz, Connie, and Greg. A Lapis Lazuli and a Jasper appear or are mentioned in every Bomb except the sixth.
    • Ruby and Sapphire appear or are mentioned in every StevenBomb.
      • In StevenBomb 1, they are first introduced and fuse with each other in "Jail Break".
      • In StevenBomb 2, they are constantly being mentioned throughout the episode "Keeping It Together", and they almost unfuse in the same episode.
      • In StevenBomb 3, they unfuse in the episode "Keystone Motel".
      • In StevenBomb 4, Garnet was telling a story about them in "The Answer".
      • In StevenBomb 5, Garnet willingly unfused into Ruby and Sapphire so they could act as normal Homeworld Gems in the Zoo.
      • In StevenBomb 6, Steven hopes that Garnet will split into Ruby and Sapphire when they split up to find Aquamarine.
    • Each StevenBomb has Peridot in at least one episode:
      • StevenBomb 1: "The Return" and "Jail Break"
      • StevenBomb 2: "Keeping It Together"
      • StevenBomb 3: "Cry for Help" and "Friend Ship"
